Party Time

Just came home from a party...
Booze parties with friends in full quota (atleast Hogan and Kattabuji or regular sheeps like Samson and Gaanagandharvan or tweener like Odie) is always fun...

I don't like beer, but that said, under the circumstances, it was the only thing we could have and get inside home without any 'problems'!

The new bar was awesome to say the least!
A tharavadu modified to a bar or a bar modified to tharavadu, who knows! But it sure is fun to put your legs up in the verandah and drink and waste away the fags...

More fun was the road trip...throught the NH and bypass at 100 Kmph, singing our hearts out!
Singing songs I never listen to, apart from the daily dose I get in our company bus...sure was fun...singing some was painful... but still fun...
pain is something I have accustomed with in my life...

Anyways...crashed later at the beach...had another round of fags...aaah! back to our old faithful Wills...had been going rounds with Davidoff (Palmer's brand) and Marlboro Lights (our perpetual premium brand!) and Gold Flake Kings (bcos we are too rich to buy a pack of Wills :P)
'Smokers die young", says the cover, Yeah ! As if we didn't know! :P
Had some chaaya and kadi...roamed around in the beach and now back home!

Sure was fun from the monotonous office life...

Hope we have more good times!

Cheers to my friends!

Merry Christmas! :-)

P.S: Oh yeah! I am not moving the blog! :P (special thanks to Arti!)

I have Moved!

My blogger account is having some issues, thanks to my stupidity!
I signed up for blogger beta, hoping my blogger account will get integrated...that did not happen!
Now beta is over and I am scared of losing my only possession worth a damn!

So here we go! The new wordpress blog...luckily they had a blogger importer! So all my posts and your comments are intact.
Still learning my way please be patient while I add more functions...some things require a premium account or something like that...
Hmmm...lets see!

Anyways, update your bookmarks, blogrolls, rss feeds!
My new year resolution is to start writing seriously once again!

Here is the new link...please visit here!

CS Fellowship blog will also be migrated soon...most probably by tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!

He had been running on an engine. It inspired him. Drove him towards success. Became part of his life like none other.
But...the engine is gone...without an engine, how can the car run?
Find a new one? It won't fit! The match made between the engine and the body is so cohesive that fit another and it won't work like what it did before...sure it will run...but what good is running, for the sake of running...
What good is a life...for the sake of pushing by, without actually living?
McLaren F1...either loved and admired...but never do anyone actually come to own it...and never does it run on the road...

For some time now, all I have been writing is about Transaction Pricing across the telecom business and the case studies. If you find it amusing, do write in! You won't get to read it! :-P
All about IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) people!
Quite satisfied with my work...but can't find passion to write other stuff...seems like my passion is gone...
All that I wrote in the past month was a poorly cooked up story published in for their December competition. Here is the entry if you to read.

Other than that there is nothing happening.

One day, my old friend Jonathan called me while I was in office. He wanted KJs number to contact another classmate of ours. I got the wind that it was about the music album he was doing.
He got the number and the next day KJ called me and asked me to write a song!
Now thats something...I asked and this was what I was supposed to do...
In the song there are a couple of rap sections. Write something for it.

Okey! me ever ready!
Only one slight problem...
I hate rap! (except for Eminem)

So, after a couple of quite days, yesterday evening he got me the CD with the song. Today afternoon, I sat and heard.
Its a remix of our old classic, "Omallaale kandu njan"
Now, don't be put off...I heard it it was quite good, though it was a very rough cut...

So two rap sections were there...
I can write a decent power ballad, but blimy! This was tough!

Below are the stuff I wrote...I don't know whether this would come in the album...anyways...don't kill me!

Rap 1

Yo! Blow me down!
For the first time, in my history
Can't believe, its happening to me
Never ever thought such an irony
ThaT I Would be in love with such a harmony

Longed for the time when I could call my own
A girl, who would never let me be alone
Gone is the world that I have known

What I see, is the sunshine
In her eyes, so I can recline
Oh Well! She got me yeah!
Never been this bad I' ve been hit!

Sure, she got me on my knees
She's everything to put me at peace
Meanwhile, will she wanna go free?
Come with me, dear I'll take you around
Like a Queen and King with prestige we'll reign
I'll be with you for all the time
In my every breath , I'll chant your name aloud,
If that makes you realize my love
Can't just go on with my life
Without you, its all in vain

Rockus is Backus

Been dazed and confused...
For so long, its not true...
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you...
Lots of people talking, Few of them know
Soul of a woman was created belowwwww

Ok Boys and Girls!
Contrary to popular belief, I'd like to specify three points:

1. I AM not dead!
2. I am NOT dead!
3. I am not DEAD!

Was dazed and confused the last month...Still am! Lots of stuff happening and time is flying!
I realised it was friday last friday as I was 'studying' a babe in the office. We have casual on fridays you see! And I was thinking, " Looked good yesterday too!"
Then I realised the 'yesterday' was actually the last friday!

Nose deep in work and strangely for a lazy guy, I am loving it! (My first technical cum style review is pending. So I may not say this again! Savour the moment people!)
Will be busy throughout the next week. DB exam is nearing (pray for me!) and after that I may take the certification of our product. Schedules will be tight for some time to come. Hope I can have a good christmas blast! (Hint to Pappu: Bring that damn vodka will ya!)

chow mein people till we meet again same time same blog (next month? :P)

My Wonder Years...

Found this at Silverine's Place...A wonderful tag...

The Wonder Years Tag

1. Write 8-10 things about childhood ( 1-12 years) that you miss.
2. Write 8-10 things that you disliked about childhood.
3. Tag a few people.

The person you turn out to be in your life is almost entirely shaped by what you experienced as a child...
I believe that in every sense of the word.

People often tell me I am crazy, rebellious and pretty arrogant. I was exactly the opposite as a child.
I guess I decided I was too damn nice and changed for the better or worse.

Moving right along!
(I would have liked some blues music to play...since I got no blues rock (read Clapton), I would have to make do with Led Zeppelin)

I miss...

1. My grandmother. She is an iconic figure for me. She was the person who instilled confidence in me which I carry to this day. I guess she will feature in other points too. :-)

2. Sitting on front of my Father's old Jawa bike. Going for rides or simply playing bike. Still remember vividly me, all of 3 years, getting scared after seeing a Kariyilavesham during Onam time in one of our trips to my Father's home in that bike.
I loved that bike...
It had a gleaming black color. There is a photo of that bike in the early seventies with my Dad on it. It was colored Green, Red, blue and black!
There was a sidebag on it and had a big noise. I could hear my Dad coming from a mile away and used to run to receive him. He used to open that sidebag and take out some goody for me with a smile.
It was eventually sold for 1000 rupees! Such a shame... :-(

3. I miss the paintings in my Kindergarden. There used to be large paintings pertaining to Hindu Mythology on the walls of my KG (There were pictures of Mahaveera, Buddha and Christ as well. One each.) These paintings were in the adjacent class. Mine used to be a small, drab room. I used to go there and stare at those pictures forever.
Picture of Bheeshma in Sharashaya, Yasoda going to spank a hands tied Krishna with Balarama peeking behind a curtain, several ways of worshipping Krishna, an image of various power chakras in the body...there were so many of them... We had an afternoon nap time those days. I used to lie there imagining my own stories based on those pictures. (when I was not playing with kids. We never slept during nap time and never let others too :-)) )

4. The kids serials in Doordarshan...
Giant Robot, Stone Boy, a serial about robots and its maker, Street Hawk, Knight Rider, Duck Tales, Talespin, Daanu aka Denver
(I still feel blue thinking about the Daanu song,
"Daanu iska chotaa naam
Poorn naam daanasur
...Chipkali ke naana hain"

5. I miss my old room in our old, Father and Mother...a wide bench attached for me to sleep. It was a small room. But I never felt cramped there. Loved waking up seeing the light streaming in the window through a Sheemaplaavu opposite to our house.
I had my own office too. Wedged between a big cupboard and an ancient but very cool big table. A pint sized mahogany colored wooden chair and a small green wooden table. My Grandmother bought that chair for me...

6. I miss playing cricket with my cousin. I still play the game ofcourse...but this was different...Only two of us playing. We used to play by picking two teams. Like Australia and New Zealand. (New Zealand lost today...waaah! :-(( ) That is, we roleplayed all the players...a full blooded 11 on 11 game! We played both forms of the game and we played all players correctly as well. Batted with hands...bowled with both arms...
I used to device new things to keep things interesting...Like Lefthand bowlers XI or Spinners XI...
Today I can bowl and bat quite decently with my weaker (left) hand due to that.
We didn't know many players of Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. So we made up names... 3 De Silvas, 3 Warnaveeras etc.
There used to be a small flowering tree and a wall to obstruct the hit balls. We considered them as fielders and named them Pushpakumara and Mathilanda Warnaweera respectively. :-))

(Playing Syd Barrett now...)

7. We used to play SAT until we were quite old (15 may be)...our haunt was my cousins home...lot of hiding places in a small area...We played SAT on afternoons after a morning session of cricket...It was quite popular as my younger cousins got a chance to play too. Once in a hot afternoon someone got a 100 count. Me and a friend promptly went to the shope nearby had a sip up and came back while others scrambled on to hiding places... :-D

8. I have had a constant supply fo books since I was able to see! First ones used to be Russian books in Malayalam.
I loved a red hard bound book especially...several stories were there in it...characters used to be Kittens, Ducks, Puppies, Frog, Rabbit, Porcupine, Wolf, Fox, Snow Man etc...
I still have that book in a tattered state...
"Oridathu moonu poochakuttikal undaayirunnu...
Onnu vella, onnu karuppu, onnu charaniram"

Another one was Achante Balyam (My Dad's Childhood) which my mother convinced me, it was the story of my own Dad!
Though I was suspicious (the boy in the book had glasses and my Dad didn't), still the naive me believed. :-P

9. During the Jungle Book era in Doordarshan, we had our own Jungle Book at school. During the Lunch Break! We played running around and thinking up all sorts of nonsense...Weird thing was, almost all the boys played and the roles were always static! I used to be Akru, the sidekick of Mowgli. I really miss that. We used to be pretty damn serious about it. The fights used to very intense and real!(and painful I might add!)

10. I miss living with my Grandmother, parents and aunts...with a perpetually never ending list of guests throughout the year...The house was a small one...But it was so fun! Whats more...our relatives were nearby and it was a joly time.
Privacy? I didn't happen to care...but now...a small personal visit can really upset my comfort zone or privacy...atleast for a short while of time...

11. I miss being hand fed by my mother and was so good. I used to read a Balarama while someone fed me. Miss sitting on someone's lap. There used to be fixed positions for my mother and aunts while we watched TV. I used to switch between them. I used to hang around my Father's neck and talk to him whenever I wanted to get something from him! :-D

12. I used to run around naked after school for atleast 1 hour after school! :-D Irritating my aunts, my Grandma and my baby cousin. This charade lasted till I was 8-9...

I could ramble on and on about this...but the post is already getting very very long...

(Loading Coldplay on the playlist)

I didnt like...
Frankly speaking, its tough to find out...
1. I hated people teasing me about my stammer. But I never did react strongly and may be thats why those instances have been few and far between.

2. Tears welled up my eyes when I was late somewhere...No one scolded me...still I used to cry ( no one else saw ofcourse! :-D)

3. Hated people telling me I was too small to do something. During Diwali, my Mother would tell you are too young for those crackers ( not heavy duty stuff...very very mild explosives mind you!) Things turned around later...she used to say you are too big for that now! :-))

4. Whenever I got into a scuffle I was at the receiving end...either at the hands of the other guy or from teachers or put into great shame. Hated the frequent chances of fights.

5. I didn't like my name...I thought it was too old fashioned and not very good. Infact I didn't like my pet name either! I felt it was too sissy!
Now I like them both. My real name is quite unique in this part of India, in my generation and couple it with my initials...viola! Instant Karma!

6. I didn't like milk. Used to be forcefed.

7. Never liked vegetables...Don't eat much even now...

8. I didn't like being weak...I used to be a very thin boy (Now don't faint!) and was as powerful as a eerkili.

This was so good to do...feels really happy now...Was feeling a bit bluesy after office today
A true Return to innocence...
Special Thanks to Silverine for introducing this tag.

Tag a few people

I think everyone should do it. Good for your health! Guaranteed! :-P

Won't publish without title! Damn!

Sound of heavy metal ringing in my ears...
Loud...Very loud...still not enough to smother my mind from thinking...thoughts that make me uneasy...depressed...

Judas Priest...ironic name...Worshipper of Judas...the caretaker of Judas...whatever...betrayal of the divine...the divine and pure half of my self...

Rains lashing outside...or is it over? Anyway its cold...switching off the fan has done no good...its hot now...stuffiness rather.

Heat seems to be seething from within...brain is going numb and active intermittently (Nah, I am not drunk!)

A shadow...a big shadow looms over my heart...gnawing me...pricking me...a bloodless torture...

Need more air...need my oxygen...where is it?

Switched the music to Enya...will it help?

My favourite albums

5.Metallica-The Black Album

This album brought metal to mainstream. May be a little ligher than their earlier material, but this is one kickass album.
Song after song, classic metal stuff in one song.
Enter Sandman...
Sad but True...
Where ever I may roam...
The Unforgiven...

4. Guns N Roses-Appetite for Destruction

The best selling debut album of all time!
It brought about the then 'Worlds most dangerous band' tag to GnR...
A great hard rock album...
All the songs kick ass with the rawness and attitude...
Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll unleashed in all its glory!
My favourite is Sweet Child O of the greatest ballads of all time...
GNR could never get better than this. This raised the bar a trifle too much!

3.Cream- I Feel Free-Ultimate Cream

I was in two minds here...Whether to put Disraeli Gears or this one...
I got DG pretty recently and lost it in the hard drive crash. But this one's been with me for a long time.
I know its not nice to mention a compilation, but hey! Its my blog!
This one contains the best material from their three albums...
Cream was a seminal 60's band...the best bass and vocals (Jack Bruce), the best guitar(Eric Clapton) and the best drums (Ginger Baker). They had services of Pete Brown, an English poet. Together they created some of the best psychedelic stuff of all time.
Sunshine of your love (my favourite of all time and big factor in bringing this album here)...
I Feel Free
Tales of the brave Ullysseus
One of the greatest guitar solos (Crossroads) and one of the greatest bass line of all time (Sunshine of your love) in the same album..what more do you want?

2. The Doors-The Doors

The debut album by The Doors...
The psychedelic masterwork. The sound of the Doors is very unique and there is no other band like it. According to me, the only band with that kind of distinction is Jethro Tull.
The vocals of Jim Morrison is nearly divine and his songwriting is on the top level.
So many classics...
'Break on Through to the Other side'
'Soul Kitchen'
'Crystal Ship' (my current favourite!)
'Twentieth Century Fox'
and the Oedipus like incestful 'The End'
It would have come to the top if not for the album below!

1. The Beatles-Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

The best album of all time!
No question about it...Sgt Pepper's has featured in numerous best album's list, most often grabbing the top spot.
This album showed the world, the possibility of a rock album. The songs showcase the spirit of the generation. The swinging 60's...
The hippie era, where the young people tried to change the world...
The psychedelic drugs ruled the roost and this was probably the first psychedelic album.
Track by Track this is an awesome album...
And this album made of use of lot of instruments and atmosphere noise...

Starts of with a rocker of a song, the eponymous 'Sgt Pepper's lonely hearts club band', filled with pompous band (the trumpet kind) sounds and atmosphere noise. A great guitar by George Harrison and vocals by Paul McCartney.
Says to the listener..."Hey we are a great band!"
Then fades into one of my favourite songs, 'With a little help from my friends" (the song was used for a commercial of Paragon(?) canvas shoes in the early 90's, one with a boy forgetting his canvas shoes to school and his dog bringing it to school) Ringo's voice really is superb here.
'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'...a brilliant psychedelic song...mind blowing to say the least...Lennon at his best.
'Getting Better' A cover version was used for Philips Commercials earlier...
Song writing Masterpiece...optimistic lines by McCartney laced with cynicism of Lennon
'When I am sixty four' a simple, elegant and lovely song by McCartney...He wrote this during his teens...
'Within You Without You' Its really hard to say its an english pop song! Seems like a Hindustani Song! Indian Instruments used in entirety. Harrison made this with the help of Ravi Shankar

All the songs are great! I just mentioned a few here...

I finished reading Zahir last week. A great book. This is the second book that I have read of Paulo Coelho, the first being Alchemist.
The book is written from a first person point of view.
Spiritual as you may expect.
This novel deals with obsession (that is somewhat the meaning of Zahir (an Arabic word)), love and happiness.
The author gives us a lot of food for thought. What is happiness?

I have been asking this myself for a long time. What defines a happy state?
Sure, I am not saying that I am a dumb loser who is bawling all the time.
Still, when I think about my happy times...

Winning something. I confess, it gives me a big rush. But then again, also a sense of insecurity. I have to keep up with this or else I would be booed. (Booed by who? That's another question altogether.)
Being with my loved ones. The very antagonistic...Not being with them...Losing them forever...Creeps up when I sink into being happy.
Sharing my thoughts with special people in the wee hours of the night...Makes me happy. But what if I screw up? There goes that happiness...

Now...take some trivial things...

Listening to my favourite music...
Makes me feel good. I tend to raise volume when some lovely parts come. Now what if I become deaf? Takes the pleasure away?

Having a cigarette. Gets a kick. Happiness...but it gets washed away after a little while. Getting cancer is a trivial matter. Did someone see me? Do I smell of tobacco? Blame it on the subsiding of the nicotine effect...But still...

Exhilaration of going at a high speed. Happiness clouded by the prospect of accident.

I can site numerous more instances...
But all things have a common point. At no particular point of time I am at a state of a total happiness.
Now what does those ill feelings point to?
What are the repurchase if something bad happens?

Now let me get back to the 'booed by who' question which cropped up earlier.
That's the root.
The fear of being booed. Booed in the sense, not being howled at. But finding yourself not good enough in front of people whom you wished would acknowledge you forever.
Not just one person or two, but a whole bunch of people at different circumstances, under different perspectives...
Some may be people whom I place as very important in my life...Some just for fact that they should know that I am better than them...

That is my obsession...My Zahir...

Feels Narcissistic? Very. I know that.
But how do I conquer it?
Doing things to please my obsession. In this process forgetting what really makes me happy?
Frankly, I have no idea what I really want...shadows are there...shadows of my real needs...
I have been able to write this because for a split moment I was free of my Zahir...I can feel it gripping me again...

I would succumb...just

This post started of as a review of The Zahir...I guess I got carried away...still I am posting it..

Most Romantic Proposal Ever!

Dear Friends

If you have'nt read this, this and this, please don't. They are filled with untruth and may harm your good hearts.
Atleast this is said to be the final post in this series (Me: For now! >:) )

P.S: I am coming home on 19th. So savour this blog for may not be updated after that...

Time: Lunch Break
Venue: Class

Pappu and his friends are waiting for the dame to come...
Finally she arrives...
Pappu looks at her...she bats her eyelashes...and smiles at him....Neo winks at him and urges him ownwards...the ladies pep him up...

Pappu: errr...hmmm...err...
Garfield: Want to go to bathroom?
Pappu: (in his trademark husky voice) Dame...
Dame: *bats her eyelashes...approaches*
Pappu: *legs failing*
Garfield to others: I think he is gonna shit here and now!

Pappu: (in his trademarked husky voice) Dame...
Dame:*still batting her eyelashes* Yes...
Pappu: Dame...
Dame:*now batting of eyelashes is a little slowed down* Yes...

Neo prods Pappu

Pappu: Graphicsinethra mark kitti? (How much did you score for Graphics)

(For the uninitiated...the first graphics series test was a disaster...a very few had passed...and Pappu was one of those assholes and unfortunately our Dame was crying the previous day because she didn't)

Dame:*visibly annoyed* 30...
Pappu:*with a fucked up look* Ok...
Dame walks back with a puffy red face...

Neo falls down on his ass with a bang.

Pappu: Guys! I swear I will tell the next time...Sure!
All of them decided to leave him alone for now...

Venue: The lounge
Time: A short break

The time was ideal, told Neo...Pappu was pumped up...
No one was around...Dame and her friend approaced the stairs...The friend was engaged by Neo...

Dame: *bats her eyelashes*
Pappu: (in his trademarked husky voice) Dame...
Dame: *bats her eyelashes*
Pappu: (in his trademarked husky voice) Dame...
Dame: Yes...
Pappu: Graphicsinethra mark kitti? (How much did you score for Graphics)
Dame:*very annoyed* 30

Dame starts to walk off...Neo starts the bang his head against the wall

Pappu with a new surgence of spirit
Pappu: Dame!
Dame looks back...Pappu smiles a lavish bright smile!

Pappu: Dame, nee linadichitundo? (roughly translates to "Kabhi Line maari kya?"or "Ever had a fling?' or something like short...very crude!)
Dame: *shocked* No!
Neo is stunned and waivering.

Pappu: *visibly happy* Appo nammukku line adikaamo? (roughly translates to "Hum line maarenge?" or "So lets have a fling!" or something like that...very romantic isn't it?)
Dame: *dumbstruck* *simply walks in a daze*

Neo is unconsius.

There ended Pappu's tale of the most romantic proposal ever...
or so we thought...

Yours truly is in possession of incriminating evidence from Hutch, Bangalore that they are seriously considering stopping the corporate offer of Hutch to Hutch mobile calls free due to the presence of a walking Hutch tower near Leela Palace...

and 19th eh?
Don't forget to bring me a Smirnoff! We will discuss this over some fine Vodka!

Fizz and Pop

Coke and Pepsi are incarnations of Satan...and everyone associated with them are servants of devil and should be burned in hell...not my opinion but this seems to be opinion of her beloved comrade Achu Mao.
The high court has lifted the ban on Coke and Pepsi, the decision may not be good according to many people, but the court always acts on the tightrope of law and it should be like that.
The government should have done some serious homework while banning colas and not acting on impulse. According to reports, the Government could have closed all loopholes.
This shows that Government is ither plain stupid or non commital to the issue...I believe its a combination of the two...
Come on now, except for Pepsi, Coke and Thumsup (the colas per se) every other drink is available. And don't give me the shit about saving coconut farmers of Kerala by switching to Ilaneer (tender coconuts)...those available in market come from exclusive tender coconut farms in Tamil Nadu...and one costs 12 Rs...not very economically feasible as many have suggested...

I am not playing devil's advocate here...Infact I am quite against what the Cola companies do...but they are business people caring for the profits alone...but...whats our government doing?
Encouraging violence...and saying its a natural reaction of people!!! How can a ruler say this? He is bound to be uphold the law and order in the country...and to refrain people from taking law onto their hands...
And the activists...destroying property of wholesalers and breaking bottles on the roads...the first thought in my mind was "Avante okke achan vannu road vrithiyaakumo?"

I didn't want to post anything but a link to Mind Curry's blog as he has summed it up very nicely...but just heard Revered Achu Mao speaking on TV and was disgusted...Be sure to check the link...
Couple of days back we friends had a small outing and eating...Probably the last one at Balu's Thattukada...Panackal is going away next week and then there will be too few of us left to have a get together...the number is dwindling day by day...
I had office that day couldn't go to college to collect the marklists...the others had gone there and had a blast the entire day and the idea was to gather in the evening and give a perfect sent off to Panackal...or so we thought...

Anand picked me from home as usual and as we reached Balu's we saw a little scuffle happening...only when we reached near we could see it was our guys and 3-4 others...
The other guys where drunk and was threatening and bellowing at our friends and trying to get hands on us. We got into it and learned what happened...

Hafeez had parked his scooter and they were sitting on the wall as usual. One of the drunk guys were trying to reverse his car and he came close to toppling the scooter. Hafeez ran up to car and tapped the car to get the drivers attention. Then he jumped and his friends joined in to teach us a lesson: For banging on the car!

They were the local useless but potent assholes and we had to somehow settle this peacefully...somehow Sreenath's word had an effect on the guy and he somewhat came down to settle things...after listening to some more shouting and shirt grabbing things were almost settled...then the fucker slapped Thakkudu across his face...we had to hold down a lot of anger...their home turf and they got to lose nothing...somehow we restrained ourselves and things ended...
We hugged and kissed the bastards away and they went away feeling smug.

These are the times you feel like an impotent...having a greater number and having better muscle power couldn't help us...
In the end they spoiled a great day for all of us...
We were all down and it could reflect from the food we ate...the usual second helpings were not taken and we coudln't even finish what we ordered...

Why are there people like this in the world...hell bent on making our lives difficult...

Pappoos Training Programme

Hello (again)

Inspite of hectic schedule I have come to address you people for elaborating on some points...

1. He is a lair. (Me: *yaaawn*)
2. He is a born lair (Me: *zzzzz*)
3. He is 500 miles away from me or else.... (Me: *snuggles pillow *)

Yours Lovingly

So the training program began. Since our hero had a critical hear condition, the programme was a capsule, crash course...

Pappoos: *blushes, smiles, shakes his head*
Neo: *slaps Pappoos* Lesson one...stop doing that!
Gentlemaanyan (GM from now on): Close your eyes...concentrate...till you see 'the white light and deep brown tranquil depths'...
Garfield: We ain't talking about you, dumbo! (That is a novel on its own, we will think about it later :D)

Pappoos: My training???
Neo: Ok. First...
Garfield: I thought we were done with that. I'll take the repeat lesson! *slaps Pappoos across his face*
Neo: I meant second.

(GM restrains Pappoos while Neo and Garfield takes cover)

Neo: Enough play. Welcome to the real world. You are the one Pappu. Remember.
GM: I thought you were Neo not Morpheus.
Neo: *ignores GM* Seek the truth Pappu...look inside and you will see...
Garfield: Shit! *looking at his Mechanics answer sheet*
Neo: Shut up asshole!

Pappoos: What is love?
GM: Its white light filling your heart!
Garfiled: *Phbbbt!* >:P
Neo: There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path...
Pappoos: Talk straight you fuckers!

Garfiled: Aliya, just rehearse what you want to say in your mind and go on.
Neo: Ok! Enough matrix crap. Treat a lady like you treat a flower.
GM: A white flower!
Pappoos: I don't know! I usually bite flowers.

Garfield: Yeah! Just go near her. Grab her hand. Give a hard bite to her pinky finger!
Neo: You have to treat her with some admiration and adoration.
GM: And give your 'whitest' smile!

Pappoos: So I go her and ask her right?
3 together: Well...if you want to...
Neo: *correcting* want her!

Pappoos thought for a while. Then with encouragement came from the girls...they cheered him on...Gaangandharvan(GG) joined us...

GG: Aliya...on this occasion we will sing a song!

GG,Neo and Garfield starts singing...

An empty street
An empty house
A hole inside my heart
I’m all alone
The rooms are getting smaller
Under where?.
My Underwear!
Under what

Pappu Exposed!

Dear Friends

In my last address I warned you! He is hopeless! Will write all non sense about me!
There was no crow!
(Me: Was it a peacock then?)
She looked good...
(Me:Who? Peacock?)
and...tall! :D
(Me: Tall peacock! That would have been a sight!)

So friends...I have decided that I will let him live...and let him carry on...for NOW!
Excuse darling is on phone!

Pappoos called me in the evening today...he said somewhat similar I smell a threat? :P

Pappu sat in the class...motionless...staring at the fan...
The fan seemed shouting at him, "Get your head down! Get your head down! I want to hang from the celing not embedded in it!"

He sighed...he blushed...he knew...he was in love!
Suddenly, Neo appeared.
Neo looked at Pappoos...
Neo shook Pappu up...

Neo: Whats wrong buddy?
Pappoos: Nothing!
Neo: What is it? Sathyam parayeda!
Pappoos: Ente karalil oru vedana. (A pain in my liver!)
Neo: You love her don't you?
Pappoos: Noooo!
Neo: Love is like a fart. How much you try to hold it, it will come out with a bang or a stink
Neo: Don't worry...we will teach you...

So Pappoos began his training...

Neo the superhero,

Too many!

Lage Raho Pappoobhai!

Hello everyone

I am Pappu...
Whatever this asshole is going to write is not completely true...even if it has a semblance of truth....He will blow it out of proportion...
So please leave me and my darling in our 'garden city' retreat...

yours lovingly

Pappu would have wanted to write this! So I wrote it for him! :D

Now on to our story...

The year 2002...
Starting of a new era in the life of Pappoos...

To call Pappoos tall will be an understatement...
To call him looong would be better!

So the long Pappoos joined Computer Engineering...His dream of being a 3L33T hacker like Kobra...(hint...hint! refer to my old archives!)

Pappoos came to the class with his Nedumangaadu buddies...
He sat on the bench...Looked around the class and beyond it...He could see across the horizon with his length...
He looked disdainly at the mortals nearby and remarked in his trademark husky (read incomprehensible) accent, "Poor Fellows!"

Suddenly, his view of the horizon was blocked by a head...
Pappoos was angry...Who dat is???

The head turned around...Pappoos mouth opened wide...shaped into snout...his ears grew long...He got on all fours and said..."Oooooouka"

She smiled...
He blushed...and closed his eyes as he dropped his head with shyness...
He looked up and smiled invitingly...

No one home...except a crow on the post...
It said, "Kaaa Kaaa!" (translation: Pick someone of your own species!)

Day one over...
(to be continued...)

Its been a while since I posted...its been a really long while since I wrote something original...I can see some going for the X button on top! :P
Not another rant about writer's block my friends! I cannot officially have it now! A few days from now I have to start making a living out of writing. Ofcourse, there are some issues that needs to be sorted out, but even if things go severely wrong, I may probably be working atleast from next month, at a lower offer perhaps! :P

I started writing a story more than a week back. (To be precise 20th August)It still remains in the introduction page. I hope to finish it one day. Its been a big step really. I usually have these grandiose story ideas which die a premature death in my mind itself. This time its there to nag me as a computer file.

Disturbed by a lot of things. Most of all, missing my friends. I have had a lot of get togethers lately, but none could really soothe me.
How people can become a big part of your life in four years...Humans amuse me! Especially me! :P

Spending my time abusing psychedelic stuff! :D
Not drugs people! Just some psychedelic rock music!
The Doors, Cream, Syd Barett etc...

And sleeping...never slept like this in my life...not doing my work...indulging in my daydreams and sleeping away...just today slept off a 6 hours in mid day...this is not me...

Needs to get a grip...or life would grip my neck and wring it...

Wanted to write something intelligent and funny(?). The result? A moody, depressing post...
I promise a good tale soon...
Tale of a good friend of mine...
No...not Odie (give the guy a break!)this time its going to be Pappoos!
Wait for it! :D

Pluto responds

Got this from here......

Pluto responds: 'Planets have feelings, What did I do to deserve this?'

There I was, minding my own business, orbiting the Sun just like all the others. I got my little bit of atmosphere going, got a lot of ice. I was cool. I stayed out of everybody else's way, sometimes way out.

Then some eggheads on that uppity third rock -- they think they're so hot because they have "life" -- went and decided I'm not a planet anymore. What's up with that? My life is hard enough as it is.

First of all, it takes forever for me to do a lap around the Sun, and it gets really lonely out here. They tell me that part of the reason I'm not a planet anymore is that some of the time I sneak inside my buddy Neptune's orbit. What do they expect? I need somebody to talk to out here sometimes. And don't get me started about that mass of junk they call Charon that is supposedly my partner in non-planethood; Charon is dead to me.

Then there's my name. Let me say I was happy enough without anyone else giving me a name. For millions of years, maybe even billions -- time sort of has no meaning out here -- I liked to think of myself as Lex, except for a very brief period of experimentation and confusion when I thought I was Sophia. But that's a long story, and Uranus promised never to talk about it.

Anyway, Lex was short, snappy and just tough-sounding enough to keep unwanted visitors away. I felt like a growling dog with that name, not that I had any idea what a dog was then. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

So then those numbskulls on Earth finally figure out I'm here, and start calling me Pluto. I had mixed feelings; I liked Lex, but I also heard through the microwaves passing by that Pluto was a god of "Death" over there. I barely knew what "life" was, but I knew Death kicked life's butt all year long (and the years are really long here).

But I nearly fell out of my orbit when I found out a pet dog -- not even a real dog but a cartoon dog -- gets to be called Pluto on their planet. Suddenly Pluto was something cute and cuddly and not tough or threatening at all.

It's bad enough when you're the smallest guy on the playground. With the cartoon dog thing, everyone was making fun of me, even Uranus. I was humiliated. Planets have feelings, too, you know.

So you can imagine how I'm taking this planet thing. Neptune, which used to hang out with me to try to look cool by association, won't even talk to me anymore. I can't take it. The Solar System is the only family I've got.

So for all you Earthlings reading this, I, Pluto, am taking a stand. I'm here. I'm a sphere. Get used to it.

As told to Sun reporter Gady A. Epstein

Tag to Fellowship and anyone else interested...

Yesterday went to Makki...a place near Ponmudi. Its not classified as a tourist spot, so there were no one else but us.
7 of us clambered on to Unni's Omni by afternoon and went there.
Anand had gone there a while back with his family. Even he had only the faintest idea. According to him, the area is a total forest. Oddly, there was'nt much of forestry. Lot of concrete houses till the last.
Some forest! Was the dude on dope? :P

Me and Sreenath were cramped on the rear seat of Omni (The two seats in the behind...)
Thampi got his new name as well...Stone Man...or rather Stone Cold! :P No...not going to elaborate...he would kill me!

In the classical way of going we went there by asking a dozen people on the way...Thankfully, all of them lead us to the right path...
We were asking for the Makki temple...people would think we going to do some crazy stuff if we asked the place where we could lounge in the water...
A nice excuse...but not valid in the afternoon time when Gods are usually put to sleep! :D

Anyway, the last two guys knew our intentions and told us the way to the waters...
After a very nasty ride through a kacha road, we reached the place...A walk of 200m through the forest took us to the place we wanted to go...the waters...
An artifical blockade is created here to make it a bath worthy waters...
Unfortunately, water level was pretty low when we came. It came to our necks in a sitting position...I was not very worried...No chance of drowning! Especially when you don't know how to swim and is a dead weight!

Started our procedure...stripped down to bare minimums and jumped to water...Played around a lot...Hafeez played Tarzan for a while with a hanging wine, until me and Anand tried our strength on it and needless to say we won! (err...the wine broke :P)

Some funny moments like Hafeez trying to swim on a kneep deep water, Hafeez trying to jump on Anand and falling flat on his nose in the water and me falling flat trying to climb down from a rock...
Got some sticks and some adivasi photos were taken...
Sreenath had brought two packets of Kurkure which finished in no time...All of us had skipped lunch and being in water makes one hungry...

Then we started building a dam using our bodies...disrupting water flow and delighted ourselves with controlling the flow of water.
Idea struck then...we build our own small check dam using rocks and water flow was modified...till the next rain that is...:D

It was agreed that next time, we come in the morning...with food and back in the evening...but next time? *sigh*
By the way, to get good food, you will have to go to Vithura...

As we left, me, Sree and Anand visited the Makki temple...More like a Kaavu...a small platform in which three dieties...Shiva (I think looked remarkably like Buddha), Ganapathy and Naagar.

We stopped at Vithura and had tea. Saw our old college canteen Manager.
Reached home by 8...

Another trip...when?where?who all?
Only time will tell...

The photos...
Due to our Mascular appearance and Anand's pathetic body...I decided not to post any body showing photos...Might hurt his feelings! :P

A view of Makki (a little shaken...not stirred! :P)

After Bath

The men and the van

A superhero caught in the act!

Return of the Jedi (Revenge of the Sith?)

My friend Shyam had called me asked whether we could go to our school. To meet our teachers before we ended up getting on jobs with no real hope of free time. He had to leave for his company next week and probably today was the only available day for him. I agreed and another friend Rakesh also agreed to come. I skipped my Lab hours and Shyam picked me up from class. His mother was driving and she dropped us at LIC. We walked to the school and waited for Rakesh.
Sensing he would be late, we decided to get some drinks and went to the cool bar. Have not been here in a long time.
Finally went up the school. Profound changes to say the least. Most of the old buildings were demolished.
Earlier on the classes used to in different blocks, spread across the campus. Now its one huge building where all classes are held.
Saw the old Guard. He said he knew us but we had to permission to meet teachers during class time and told us to get it from the Principal. He was very good natured as he always was. No change there!
Now the hardest part.
Our Principal is the strongest lady I have met in my life. I still get shivers thinking of being in her room. Ominous...and her cold stare...the mere presence of her ensured a sense of discipline in the students. Though, she lacked in several areas, she was a good Principal.
Unfortunately, she has been bedridden due to some medical issues. It is said she cannot even sit up. A really hard thing, when you consider she is probably in the later part of her middle years. Now its her second daughter in charge. She is considered to be a she-devil.
We had to wait for a while and saw that the PA was still there. A new lady PA too...
The office is changed. The old Yoga Mandir gone. The class block converted to Principal's used to be here a long long time back...But still the old one was better...I could vision Principal standing on the doorstep and glancing at the school from atop. Like Queen looking at her subjects...

Anyway...we met a couple of teachers...they recognised us and were quite happy to see us. We went in to meet the Principal. She seemed out of place. A pretty big shoes to fill I guess. Got our pass and we were good to go!
Our +2 classes had been converted to lab exclusive building. Memories of dreaded, hazy, desperate years came to me. How much have I changed from then? Probably a lot...
The Bharathamatha statue is still there. The ground is smaller now. The huge block stared at us.

We didn't know where to start at first. Roamed around and decided to go to the +2 section. Probably they would remember us!
As we climbed the stairs, the bell rang for the short interval. For the first time in so many years, I heard the stampede! kids running out of the class on to the ground or to the loo. Was really, really happy to hear that...These are sounds you don't expect to hear in your life again!

Saw the teachers...many of them...some where reluctant to speak until we showed the pass. I guess many of them are scared and resentment is there against the new rules.
Saw some dance practice going on in the new auditorium...That is pretty cool...I meant the auditorium, not the girls who were dancing! :D
Saw my cousin sitting in the class. Hmmm...these kids are too quite!

The building is a pain in the ass to navigate...after seeing a lot of teachers...those who taught us in 1st to 12th...we were thoroughly confused where to go and where we would end up...finally we got into a faniliar territory after passing through a pretty cool iron bridge connecting the buildings...our old 3rd standard! Seemed to be very much olden days...
We used to stare down from the 3rd floor on to the ground...the milma van would be parked...we would have no money...all of us would imagine having an invisible straw with which we would suck up all the icecream and drink. :)

Met our old PT sir as well. He has been here for long now...

Went to the library to see the library staff (we call them teachers). One of them was my aayah in the kindergarten and knows me very well. Our 12th standard class teacher was also there. They were telling how good we people are as we try to come atleast once in a blue moon. The new gen gives a damn and has very little attachment to the school.
I was pained to learn that a big shot guy who got the first rank in entrance didn't visit the lower class teachers or the library staff when he visited the school to get his felicitation. I think he is a total Arya product. Never forget your roots...

Our teacher was reminiscing our class days...
According to her "I don't know whether you people learned chemistry. But I certainly learned malayalam!"
We were a band of anarchists...the worst class in the history...
The problem...a total guy class.
Another one...all the 'elements' in the same class (Me not included! :P)
Though she hated our guts and our attitude...we actually had a good relationship...
Imagine a boys class winning trophy for cleanliness...We sweeped in the breaks...we cleaned the fans...put up stuff on the walls...
Won it straight for several weeks...

She ended by saying that though we were bad...we were good...todays kids are plain substance...just the drive for entrance...nothing else...

So you can relate to the Return of the Jedi part in the titel. Then, why revenge of the Sith???
Arya had a strange co-ed system...different stairs for guys and girls...we hated it then...I hate it now...In the new building there is a new ramp build exclusively for girls. Its cool to walk there...but totally unnecessary...I decided that for once I am going to walk there with head held up high (used to sneak and enter through the ladyway when we were still there!) Break the rule in plain sight...I got the excuse that i didn't know about it.
Syam was very reluctant. The same old goodie two shoes. I virtually dragged him to the ramp. Rakesh was busy on his phone and so he had no clue and simply followed me. Syam was shaking I guess. Some of the girls were staring at us with some fright I guess. Some new teachers staring at us dissaprovingly, but none of them dared to question.
Finally, the Sith had his revenge! :P

The little mermaid :P

You Are a Mermaid

You are a total daydreamer, and people tend to think you're flakier than you actually are.
While your head is often in the clouds, you'll always come back to earth to help someone in need.
Beyond being a caring person, you are also very intelligent and rational.
You understand the connections of the universe better than almost anyone else.

Beach Boys

As usual I was wasting my time away in the evening. Getting ready to watch WWE and catch some sleep. Then my friends came home and asked whether I wanted to come to Karikkakam Temple. A trip to beach afterwards was also in the offing. I accepted gladly. Any change from the regular routine is always welcome.
So the four of us started out. First to the temple. Its fairly big one and I love it.
Lot of trees...Lot of sand to play with...(Some of the temple officials were staring rather crossly at me while I was idly playing with had to cut that out! Boooo!)
The nearby Naagar kaavu (Temple of the godly snakes) had a great atmosphere.
Then we went to the beach. The beach road is fabulous thanks to Punj Lloyd. Strolled around the beach which was a little busy as usual. None of us felt any urge to play with water. Then had a tea and snacks.

Memories flooded back to me...some bleak...some powerful...
I have come to the beach just a couple of times (or was it once?) with my parents when I was a kid. Always wanted to...But Dad and Mom being busy meant outings were very scarce.
But my trips otherwise were frequent with my cousin, uncle and aunt. But I don't think there is any speciality associated with those visits. May be climbing the Star Fish Hotel (a few more than that..I was an obedient kid and was scared!) or the cycle park comes to mind now.

In college it was different. Been here a few times with friends. Almost all visits have some speciality on its own. I think I would post those visits, non beach stuff we did...both crazy and sane over a period of time...

In other news, I got my first job...Very happy at that...Now waiting for the offer letter to come to my inbox. Looong wait...won't come atleast till 10 tomorrow morning! :D

ciao for now people

Sin and Sun...

Saw Sincity yesterday...
An outstanding movie...
Very was not cleared to show in India...
Based on graphic novel series (other name for comic books!) by Steve Miller...
I have been in possession of this for a while now...thought I would see it after reading the comic...
The film unfolds as a collection of stories in which the characters intersect...The film has stayed true to the comic to the maximum...
A thorughly enjoyable ride...I loved the story 'Violent Marv'...

Oh yeah the movie is shot in black and white with colour in specific red dress, lips, blood and the yellow body of the Yellow Bastard in the eponymous episode.
The backgrounds are digitally made and is a visual treat to say the least.
Great performances from all actors...I was pleasantly surprised to see Alexis Bledel (Rorie in the sitcom The Gilmore Girls) as a young whore.
If you can grab this, then its a must watch..provided you have the stomach for blood shed...

Had my next two rounds of interview today...Something totally out of the blue...First one was great but the HR interview was bad...I believed I sucked...
The results will be out tomorrow..Lets see what happens!

POPULATION: 7 million (less than half of Mumbai)
AREA SIZE: Less than that of Kerala
ACT OF VIOLENCE AGAINST IT: 2 soldiers kidnapped by Hezbolla, 1 by Hamas
RETALIATORY ACTION: war on Lebanon, 200 rockets fired the next day .

POPULATION: 1 billion+
AREA SIZE: 6th largest in the world
ACT OF VIOLENCE AGAINST IT: 200+ dead in Mumbai blast, 8 in Kashmir
RETALIATORY ACTION: a soft speech by PM, Salute to mumbai people , clean chit for SIMI by UP CM

Proud! Proud of the ineptitude...
Just realised I have not been posting for a while. Can't put fingers to keyboard to blog to be frank...Pending work looms large as well. And a very small cause of concern...the university results...would be out within a couple of weeks...
Got through the technical interview for the job of a technical writer, now HR interview is scheduled sometime this week. Another thing to worry about...

So far...So blah!
Been downloading a lot of games recently...And playing also...thought I would make a listing of it...

International Cricket Captain 2006
This is a cricket management game. Addictive, if you are into cricket. The graphics positively sucks. The same as what it was in its 2000 avatar.

Sid Meir's Pirates
Aargh! Matey, this is one hell of a game. Remake of a classic game which I was totally in love with.
You are a pirate. Choose your home country. Grab a ship. Attack ships. Pillage towns. Romance with Governer's daughter(Dancing!). Rescue your family members. Avenge your family. Find treasures. Discover lost cities. Sword Fight!
A game that defies genre. An entry into my all time favourites!

The Movies (and expansion Stunts & Effects)
Start your studio. Make your movies. Release. Rake in money!
Simple isn't it?
Well, I wish it was...The movie making is absolutely cool. I made a sniper movie, a mushy romantic movie, several westerns, some alen movies, a weepy love story and oh yeah, a lesbian love story!
The last one was out of necessity due to the game mechanics. The management of your movie studio is hell. Micromanagement hell. So it detracts from the movie making aspect a lot. You can't get actors at right times. Your actors become burnt out. Imagine this, my lead romantic actress was 59 years old when she was acting in bath towels!!! Yuck!
A great game pulled down by micromanagement.
The expansion adds stuntmen who can do..well, stunts! Didn't play around with it as I had better stuff to do...

American McGee's Alice
A twisted Alice in Wonderland. Alice's parents die in a fire. Alice goes mad and is now in an asylum. She is in her teens now and very mad.
She is transported to Wonderland where all is not well. Queen has become draconian and wonderland is suffering. Alice has to save it and in the process save her self.
This is violent action game with lot of blood. Not for kids!
A genius stuff. The artwork are superb. Just take a look!

The chesire cat looks just ominous and Alice, the Butcher!

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
A game of the hit movie. But the story is different. It is really good game. But lack of quick save sort of pulls me away from this game.
Action is good. Stealth is vital. Hand to hand combat is cool. Graphics are great.
But something tells me I am not going to finish this...

Halflife 2: Episode One
The episodic expansion to Halflife 2. An absolutely thrilling ride. Alyx, a sexy scientist babe, will be your sidekick all along. Don't get me started on her! :D
The graphics are mindblowing and some cool instances are there in the game. Like, in the beginning you go for a roller coaster ride on a car.
Must play! And I have to play original Halflife 2!

My babe...

Soon, going to play....

Dug it from deep ravines of torrent land. A great game which was a big flop. Will finish downloading today and will post stuff on it later.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
A great rpg from Bioware. Watching Star Wars original trilogy. Will finish today with Return of the Jedi. And I want a tubelight! errr Light saber!
I hope my friend Fox has it.

Halflife 2
The greatest action game, period. Got stuck last time due to some AI trouble. I tried everything but couldn't get past it. The extra large game size is the only blockade...Riddick gone???

Ciao until next time...

My Emotional Quotient

Your EQ is 140

50 or less: Thanks for answering honestly. Now get yourself a shrink, quick!
51-70: When it comes to understanding human emotions, you'd have better luck understanding Chinese.
71-90: You've got more emotional intelligence than the average frat boy. Barely.
91-110: You're average. It's easy to predict how you'll react to things. But anyone could have guessed that.
111-130: You usually have it going on emotionally, but roadblocks tend to land you on your butt.
131-150: You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin.
150+: Two possibilities - you've either out "Dr. Phil-ed" Dr. Phil... or you're a dirty liar.

Feeling Pretty Smug! :P
I wanted to do this and see. Had to get some introspection regarding my attitude to some people.

You Have Your Sarcastic Moments

While you're not sarcastic at all times, you definitely have a cynical edge.
In your opinion, not all people are annoying. Some are dead!
And although you do have your genuine moments, you can't help getting your zingers in.
Some people might be a little hurt by your sarcasm, but it's more likely they think you're hilarious.

Hmmm...I can be very sarcastic...but I keep a distance from hurting people...I think I have a decent track record in this!

You Are 36% Brutally Honest

Honesty is nice, but only when it's convenient. You rather be nice than honest.
You figure it's important to be honest about the big stuff, but little lies never hurt anyone!

Yeah baby!

Ban...Why? What?

Been visiting the list of the Unholy....i,e the so called threat to national security blogs.
I got the list from the Blogger Collective Group

13. (fax scan unclear, could be wrong)

I checked out the blogspot pages...
What I saw...

Princess Kimberley

Absolutely Nothing in here...Apart from the heading Princess Kimberley and a name Tony...
May be this is code...very suspicious
Blogger shows an unexpected error when the profile link is clicked...

Pajama Editors

A very weird blog...Nothing anti Indian as far as I saw...Anti leftism is there...
Could it be a secret code? Could be...some of the stuff can be deconstructed to mean terrorism...

Exposing the left

This one seems credible to be frank. I mean not objectionable. A sort of news blog to be frank...
One reference to India...‘‘At least 131 killed in India train bombings: More humanitarian acts from the ‘Religion of Peace’.’’

Sarcasm at its best!
Terrorism? No way!
And they have acknowledged the ban and posted on it too.
Check the article in Indian Express about this.
If bans are placed on this...then every blogger who writes with sarcasm and acid have stuff to worry about.

Common Folk Common Sense

This is very weird. A chinese or japanse blog. Can't say whether this is terrorism or anti India...

These are things I saw first hand. We can interpret anything and apply deconstruction to get any answer. But a ban has to be credible. Even if this is a temporary blackout...

The questions are why this ban?
Even if Government meant these 4, we have the right to know the reason.
And for what was this ban?
To block terrorists?
Guffaw! Anyone with a slight ability to Google Search can circumvent this easily...Just to irritate the public...That is all that was accomplished...And oh yeah reduce my mighty hit rate! :P

Shine on you crazy diamond...

Image Hosted by

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Syd Barret
Founder member Pink Floyd...Born January 6, 1946 Died July 7 2006

An eccentric genius. He was the Pink Floyd frontman and lead guitarist...
He made just one album with the Floyd. But that stands out as a brilliant composition, Pipers at the Dawn.
He is remembered not just for his compositions but the profound impact he had on his fellow band mates...especially his childhood friend Roger Waters...
Syd fell into the influence of LSD. The LSD overabuse led to his mental disintegration. It is said to have triggered some inherent mental disease.
His performance started dippind in stage shows and eventually he was replaced by his friend Dave Gilmour.
Syd then went on a break and started painting in his sparetime.
He did make a couple of solo albums which are pretty good. (I have just listened to one of them called Barrett, the first one was The Madcap Laughter)
But after 1972 he completely went on a recluse and faded out of picture...
His legacy was too big to fade though...

I became interested in Barrett after reading about an incident during the making of the album Wish you were here.

The album itself is a sort of tribute to Syd Barrett and the old comraderie in the band, which was now lost.
During the recording of the song Shine on You crazy Diamond. (S Y D!), a fully shaved obese man appeared in the studio.
No one recognised him, but suddenly they realised it was the mad Syd who somehow came in there. No contact for 7 years and he shows up when his song was to be recorded.
He looked very lost and started jumping up and down brushing his teeth. Seeing this Roger Waters burst into tears.
They sang the song for him and he left after that. No contact again...

This had a great impact on me...I felt a sharp sting in my heart due to this...

Syd Barrett lived his parents home along with his sister. He disliked any contact from his past. He is said to have died from complications arising due to Diabetes.

His songs had a vivid imagery...a poetic painting...simple words with a childlike quality in them...
Check out the lyrics of his song...
See Emily Play

Emily tries but misunderstands, ah ooh
She often inclined to borrow somebody's dreams till tomorrow
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for may
See Emily play
Soon after dark Emily cries, ah ooh
Gazing through trees in sorrow hardly a sound till tomorrow
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for may
See Emily play
Put on a gown that touches the ground, ah ooh
Float on a river forever and ever, Emily
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for may
See Emily play

Bike (this is absolutely a childish delight!)

I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like.
It's got a basket, a bell that rings
And things to make it look good.
I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.

You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I'll give you anything, everything if you want things.

I've got a cloak it's a bit of a joke.
There's a tear up the front. It's red and black.
I've had it for months.
If you think it could look good, then I guess it should.

You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I'll give you anything, everything if you want things.

I know a mouse, and he hasn't got a house.
I don't know why I call him Gerald.
He's getting rather old, but he's a good mouse.

You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I'll give you anything, everything if you want things.

I've got a clan of gingerbread men.
Here a man, there a man, lots of gingerbread men.
Take a couple if you wish. They're on the dish.

You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I'll give you anything, everything if you want things.

I know a room full of musical tunes.
Some rhyme, some ching, most of them are clockwork.
Let's go into the other room and make them work.
