Steaming In...

One of the positives I looked forward from my forced sabbatical was some savings. At the fag end of it, I don't see any in my account! Its as bare as it usually is. I thought at least my credit card bill would come down. Maxed out and overdrawn to the limits! If the lack of savings can be attributed to the assortment of lab tests and high cost medicines, the credit card fiasco is the sole responsibility of Valve. More specifically, Steam . Steam is a digital game delivery platform. The best in existence. You buy a game, download the Steam client, download the game, and play. Simple enough. What makes this extra special is the fact that suppose you have a PC crash, you can redownload the game free of charge! Also, if you have multiple computers, you can download the games all of them and play! Some games also provide you with the facility of syncing the save games! Totally awesome stuff! The sad part is you will go broke from buying games. I had never bought a legitimate game (a...

Little Stars

Damn you little brats from Star Singer junior! My reputation of being a tough ass cookie who listens exclusively to metal songs filled with throaty growls have been shattered! To clarify, the image was purported by folks who saw me headbang to Metallica and watch metal videos in Jukebox and Rosebowl. Fascination to black tees, unkempt hair, and torn jeans further added fuel to the fire. The image was held up by yours truly for God know what! Not so any more! The little ones in the reality show Munch Star Singer junior have shattered that mythical me. Now my parents and my family knows that I enjoy melodious music as much as any other. Boohoo! So much for the bloody exclusivity! I have been turning up for dinner at exactly the same time as the show and does not even demand the remote to watch Cricket during the show! (Good time to be a cricket fan. A riveting South Africa-England contest, Aussies raping our Padosis...yummy time!) Later on, I am searching YouTube for the song videos and...

This is it

Weekends typically starts of on a desperate note. The wake up call is usually either one of the following: a) Nature calls. Calls me an asshole and warns me of dire consequences if I don't enter the loo within seconds. b) Stomach calls. Calls me with a growl. Need some food. Or if you really want your oesophagus for brunch... If its point a, the level desperation may heighten if the bathrooms aren't free. If its point b, all that I do is wake up and after a couple of hours head out to have lunch. Oh! The wakeup time is 11-12 by the way! Friday night included a very heavy dinner with lots of beer thanks to having no breakfast and virtually no lunch. Wakeup call at 9 this Saturday. My mom's friend was in Bangalore visiting her son. Invite to lunch on Sunday. Lunch invites are gleefully accepted these days since I am really fed up of eating mediocre food. Great food is available at the cost of a very long walk and rather high price. I ended up not going as laziness took over m...

Tequilla Sunrise

I have done several music tags. Its been a while and couldn't resist when I saw one here . These are the rules: 1. Put your music player on Shuffle mode. 2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer. 3. Write the song name no matter what it is. 4. After you've answered all of the questions, tag 5 other people and let them know they've been tagged. We got a problem Houston! I am at my workplace and shouldnt be doing this tag in the first place! Secondly, I don't have my entire music collection, just some 50 songs in system. I am gonna make a slight variation. Instead of my entire music collection, I will be answering from the songs appearing in my Last.fm library radio . Almost my entire collection is randomised in there. Let's rock! 1. If someone says "Is this okay?", you say: I know there is an answer by The Beach Boys. Yeah, its 42 . Need to find the question though! 2. What would best describe your personality? Breathless by The Corrs...
I brought my PC from home last month and have been having a good time finally hearing some good music on my speakers. I run Ubuntu with no Windows installed. At the behest of my roomies and the greed to play games I finally installed Windows and things went crazy. Virus attack within hours forced me to do a reinstall! Cannot access Ubuntu since XP insists on overwriting the MBR. Tried all alternate methods. Finally had to download the Ubuntu CD. Now going to try my luck with it! Prayers people! Prayers! Thats what I want! P.S: Check out new gadgets. Though it takes some time to load, it won't affect the load time of the main posts. There is a gadget from iLike where you can listen to snippets of the Top 10 songs I have been hearing this week in Last.fm . Another feature is you can add your own songs to the gadget if you log in to the blog using Google FriendConnect. An incentive for signing up! The other gadget is from Blip.fm , in which you can listened to the last 5 songs I blip...

Rush!

I am in a rush and microblog won't do for me! You see, I have a sort of obsessive compulsive disorder (ask certain friends!) and I have to do when I have to do! So I am blogging about practically nothing. Not a new thing for you long time readers anyway. Started using Blip.fm . A pretty cool service. Practically its Twitter for music. Check it out and see for yourself! The link points to a song by Oasis , Stop Crying Your Heart Out . I just love this one. It appears in the movie The Butterfly Effect towards the end. I like that movie eventhough its a bit corny. About making things right by travelling back in time...sometimes you do wish, don't you? Don't lie! Do check out my Twitter feed . I tweet about a lot of random information which are practically useless and junk. Very entertaining though in a geeky manner. Ok, I am stopping this blatant self promotion and leaving. Have a great weekend! Hold up Hold on Dont be scared Youll never change whats been and gone May your sm...

How soon is now?

Title alludes to a brilliant song by The Smiths. You can find it at the bottom of this post. A brilliant song about a loser, single guy. I hope it makes sense at the end of the post as well. I never thought seriously about getting married. Thought, yes. Thought like what would I be doing if a bunch of cannibals caught me and put in a big cauldron to make a stew. Nothing concrete. But me in a distant land (any place 10 KM from home is distant!) seems to ring alarm bells in my parents' head. Fortunately, I am blessed to have a nice cousin, who is a self-proclaimed romeo and working in the film industry, dilly-dallying with the babes. Furthermore, he is a certified flirt machine by the family. So the attention is on him and everyone's scared he would land a babe unacceptable to the family. Right now, I have successfully thwarted all the advances my parents made regarding a couple of proposals by the following rebuttals: 1. I am too young! 2. I won't do anything stupid! 3. I ca...

Rock On!! (Music Review)

This is something I have been putting off time and time again. A cardinal sin by a rock music fan who happens to be a blogger as well! Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy once again breaks new ground with some awesome music. Last Hindi album I loved wasTaare Zameen Par. They haven't failed th yet again! There is no doubt Farhan Akhtar is a brilliant Director. But he is playing an unfamiliar dual role of the lead singer and the lead actor. The man has got some guts. Does he have the meat to carry it? Lets see! I have been listening to the music for quite sometime now. Decided to play it in its entirety to get a feel of reviewing it. The album opens with an awesome guitar riff. Reminds a lot of the classic guitar solos ala Jimi Hendrix . You get the hints of a different, yet rocking album. Lyrics are very different from the run of the mill Bollywood fare. Lot of English words thrown in the mix. Little existential. Even when the song is about love, it feels different. More sincere. More real. Music ...

Music Tag...Redone!

I was browsing through my old archives and found an old music tag that I had done. Name your top 10 most played bands on Last.fm and then answer some questions. My top ten list has changed considerably since then and I think its interesting enough (at least for me!) to do again. The 2006 June list is shown and the 2007 list is shown below. And the tag too! The List as on June 2006 Name your top 10 most played bands on Last.fm 1. The Beatles -235 2. Led Zeppelin -144 3. AC/DC -138 4. Jethro Tull -110 5. Metallica -100 6. The Doors -92 7.
