Heisenberg! My memories of a horrific plus 2 comes to haunt me! Manageable ideas interspersed with horrible equations which had to be gobbled up. Just to barf them out in exams and entrance. My grievances with our system still continues!
Seething after you learned about your girlfriend's infedility? Don't break her nose, give her a gift! The perfect one at that! A beautiful bikini. The catch? It dissolves on contact with water! Get her to wear the bikini, push her into water. Publicly humiliate her! And yeah, good luck with that court case!
The sexy black swimsuit looks like a real bikini, feels like a real bikini and fits like a real bikini. The only difference is it’s made from a material that completely melts away after a few seconds in water.
Named the "Get Naked Bikini", the item is being marketed as the ultimate form of revenge for recently dumped dudes. The bikini has upset womens' rights groups, with one campaigner, Rosmarie Zapfl, saying, “It is an absolute insult to women that this has been invented.”

The record is very mediocre and downright poor in some cases. This is not what we expect Irfan to do. We have players who can replace Irfan. He is no Tendulkar.
One of saddest sights for me while watching India play is Irfan's bowling. I became a big fan of him watching him run through the Pakistan U-19 side. Amazing swing and control for such a young player. All gone. Just a pale shadow of his former self. Yusuf is better off with no comments rather than going on angry tirades. Stand on your feet before you start running.

36, unless I miscounted. Long way to go. Long way to go!
Umm...warning signals ringing in my brain! At least I am not alone!
Rain should have gone. Farmer getting his livelihood and the kid getting joy are the most important things. That boyfriend go to hell. Cricket matches can go own after a smattering of rain! ;-)
Roel Robles had been on Pagasa Island for less than a week when he found himself wondering, with something like despair: Is it possible for one white-beached, palm-studded place to be both heaven and hell, paradise and prison?Pagasa plays tricks with your mind.
"When you first get there, you see this little island resort," said the 30-year-old sergeant in the Philippine National Police. "Then after about five days, something snaps. You begin telling yourself, 'I have to get out of here -- now, today.' "
Its few dozen inhabitants can walk around the pint-sized perimeter in 30 minutes. From its highest point, nine feet above sea level, they gaze out at turquoise seas all around.
It's a stunning view. But it's the same view, day after day.For the government in Manila, however, all that matters is that it's a Philippine view.
Pagasa may be a 75-acre speck of sand and rock, but that hasn't stopped a swarm of countries from battling over the hundreds of specks of sand and rock that make up the Spratlys, which may be the most disputed island chain on Earth.
So, in 2002, the Philippines decided to establish a small colony of hardy civilian settlers on the island, augmenting the two dozen military workers who earn special "loneliness pay" to live on the far-off spot -- and bolstering its claim that possession is nine-tenths of the law.
The result is sort of "Cast Away" meets Plymouth Rock.
In a nation where half the 90 million residents endure grinding poverty, Pagasa volunteers get free food and housing and guaranteed work. But there's also guaranteed boredom. Many who inhabit Pagasa consider the calendar their worst enemy. Others mark off time on the wall like stir-crazy convicts.
With a main port named Loneliness Bay, the island can take such a psychological toll that one inhabitant stabbed himself just to escape it. Another hanged himself two days after he arrived.
"The happiest day on Pagasa is when the boat comes to take you off," said Robles, who after three months on the island last year has returned home here, only to dread his next Pagasa assignment. "Next is seeing the plane arrive with supplies. The sound of those engines means cigarettes and alcohol."
Picture makes it look like a paradise. I guess its poison veiled as nectar. Escape from the daily, mundane life to an island paradise seems like a good plan. If it drives you nut, its kind of a moot point. Always wanted my own island paradise. After reading this, having second thoughts on that!
Whats with our obsession and love with rains? May be its the climate. Fucking hot and humid for nearly half the year. Rains come as a welcome relief. Even when it wrecks havoc, we wallow in the love. I tend to think of different possibility. We are possibly the most uptight folks in India as little as I have seen. We don't laugh at any buffoonery, needs a really stiff kick on the back to laugh. Just go for a run of the mill Bollywood comedy movie. Those folks would be doubling up with laughter and we are like 'Duh!' Steering back to the topic. We are so uptight that we find rain to be liberating. We associate rain with outpouring of our emotions without actually doing so. We get that liberated feeling by associating ourselves with rain. Liberation of our joy, pain, pleasure, lust...
Or...Am I the only mallu who see rain in this way? Should seek professional help then!
You tend to appreciate customer support after spending a little while with them. Pretty sure such a help system existed when the first books came out.
Wish March, 2010 was closer.
Alice in Wonderland always delighted me in both childish and perverse ways. I was engrossed by cartoon series shown on Doordashan years back. Later in my teens, I found a very old copy of the book (including the sequel Through the looking Glass) in my Grandfather's bookshelf during my routine book hunt. I devoured the book immediately and felt there was something edgy about it. Though an innocent tale, it gave me some violent and sexual vibes. Ten years later, I realized I was not the only one. A full blown porn movie set in Alice in Wonderland universe, Alice in Wonderland: An X-Rated Musical Fantasy. Surreal movie to be frank. Actors break into song and dance, that too the most bizarre ones. Highly recommended over your run of the mill porn flick.
Yet another perverted Alice story is the video game American McGee's Alice. Not for kids this one. Will permanently harm them. This is about a psychotic Alice who lost her parents in a fire and bundled into an asylum. She seeks liberation by setting things right in a horribly twisted Wonderland. I never got around to playing the game through. The little that I did boasted wondrous locales and twisted gameplay based on the Alice universe. The game is supposed to get a deserved makeover next year and a movie has been in the works for several years now. To be frank, I would like to see the movie on American McGee's Alice rather than Tim Burton's. That said, I am a big fan of Burton and Johnny Depp. The team never disappointed me. Here is hoping they would give us a brilliant and a fresh take on Alice.
Check this Wikipedia entry to read upon other Alice derivatives. Very exhaustive!
P.S: If somebody finds the old Doordarshan cartoon series, you know where to find me!
P.P.S: It is suggested that Lewis Caroll had a perverted affinity towards young girls. Wikipedia has an entry on it. I recall reading that he wrote Alice in Wonderland during a boat trip with a girl named Alice and her sister. Take it for what its worth. Above all, enjoy his works. It's timeless.
A must see video. I had posted this earlier, but YouTube took it down. This version in Vimeo is much better. The entire video is available as a single file. You can view in its entirety or better still download and watch in your time. You need to register in Vimeo to download the file. Another option is to log in using Facebook Connect.
The inhuman carnage is made even more painful by the calm demeanor in which the terrorists carry out their task. Relevant to all of us since Ajmal Kasab is on trial with a whole lot of courtroom tamasha.
I would also like to show a finger or two to those who say that Ajmal should be hanged now in public. We are a civilized kind or at least pretend to be so. A trial is a privilege we give to all the accused and more importantly a trial can bring out much more credible information than the case of a confession secured by torture. The sheer mental agony is the best medicine to break down a person.
We have 3 stages of life………..
Teenage: Have Time + Energy …but No Money
Working Age: Have Money + Energy …but No Time
Old age: Have Time + Money …but no Energy
Got this as a forward.
I would change teenage to the phase before work. It is apt unless you are guy/gal born to pretty rich parents. We had so much time and so much fun with so little money. 99 rupees for 4 dinner scheme at local restaurants (thattukada). One Appy to rule all our throats. One beer to quench for thirst.
Today? Not hesitating to spend 500-1000 on one meal just for oneself. No time for everyone to gather and go on that ever elusive trip. Booze is for drowning the pressures and to subjugate the worries. This is our life I guess. It’s a bitch.
Super stuff! That too from imagechan! I do wonder why the courageous and charismatic folks enter the dance floor!
Damn! I am half inclined to go bankrupt to buy an XBox 360 and this game! It seems to be so promising! Confirmed track list shows some intriguing songs apart from my favourites. Within you, Without you takes the cake. Sitar solos! Tabla jams! If done right, that would be awesome!
Paperback Writer, Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, With a little help from my friends, the lists rolls on and on. The artwork is sublime. It shows the progression of Beatles from a lovey dovey band to the Art Rock masters that they are.
Releasing on 09.09.09...hmm...that reminds me. That's the same day as our beta release. Back to work.
A must read article. Inspiring! Aah!
Well...back to my hedonistic life!
Holy crap! All I can ever drink in one go is an ounce!
Title is formatted like we do here for the knowledge base articles!
Reddit is the source (yet again!): http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/92zyx/sarcasm_comic/
Click through to read the entire stuff. Pretty hilarious, but deviant from the usual servings from Cracked. Bound to get the objectivists skin crawling and veins bursting!
I always wonder why Ayn Rand has a fascination towards rape, drawling monologues, and terribly lengthy books. That said, I shouldn't be speaking about rape! If someone reads this post in Uttar Pradesh, the White Elephant will be baying for my blood!
Take a bow Freddie! You deserve it! Ashes. Lords. Farewell. It could not be scripted better! The mighty Aussies gone down and my prediction of this Ashes resembling the last India-Australia series starting to come good. England scratching out a draw in the first match and going on to win the series. I hope it turns out that way rather than like 1997 Ashes, where England went from 1-0 to lose the series 1-2. Then again, 1997 Aussie side had McGrath and Warne.
Schadenfreude? I have a strong dislike for Ponting and his Aussie side. Far cry from the Steve Waugh side. Ponting's side come off as an annoying prick rather than the Godly side that Waugh led. A side against which you were helpless and they showed the exact right amount of arrogance to suit. An apt comparison would be Sreesanth's antics and McGrath's antics.
His new film, Rithu (Seasons), is a buddy tale that blooms in the changing social and emotional landscape of a small south Indian town.
Three childhood friends, who grew up in the same neighborhood and went to same school and college, weave up their dreams about life together. Sarat, Varsha, and Sunny were inseparable in their love, bonding, and innocence. Sarat and Varsha grew fond of each other, in a more internal and less physical manner. Sunny is more like a brother to Sarat. To raise money to achieve their dreams, Sarat leaves for California to live and work. The other two take up jobs in Bangalore.
Three years later, they return to the throes of their changing hometown. After an emotional reunion and a sweet build-up of hopes, each finds that beneath their camaraderie, they had actually outgrown their old selves.
My cousin is working on the post production of this movie and he is raving about it. His ravings and my tastes sometimes contradict. This is one movie which I hope we don't! After a wonderful Ore Kadal, I hope Shyamaprasad continues his good touch.

Lot more history behind this letter in Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/drlaura.asp
Pretty relevant to us, thanks to the hullabaloo associated with decriminalization of Article 377. This snippet deals with the church, but the similar stuff can be made to counter all the concerned sky-daddy worshipers. Religion should exist for the people, not the other way around.
Those saying homosexuality is unnatural lives in a la-la land. Read this and count the species with documented variant sexuality: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexual_behavior_in_animals
I can only laugh at the people who say that this will open the floodgates and our children will become gay. Check this excellent article written by Dr Devdutt Patnaik: http://news.rediff.com/column/2009/jul/10/baba-ramdev-is-wrong-homosexuality-is-no-disease.htm
Following excerpt from the article is the most incisive argument you can have in the context of contemporary Indian society:
Logic and science and authority can be used to justify anything. But ultimately we have to ask -- what is our goalpost? Imagine your daughter is getting married to a nice young man who has homosexual feelings. Until a few weeks ago, he never told the world about it for fear of being branded a criminal.
Now, no thanks to the Baba, he feels he is mad. He does not think so. He does not feel so. But he is afraid to tell the world the truth of his desires. So he has firmly entrenched himself in the closet.
He will tell no one, certainly not his mother, or father, or brother, that he has had sex with men. Not one or two, but dozens, secretly, silently, furtive experiences, with men who like him are afraid to disclose their preferences in public lest they be labelled criminals or diseased.
He will marry your daughter. And your daughter will wonder why, in the privacy of the bedroom, this nice man shuns any attempt to be being intimate. Is she the problem? Her self worth will suffer. The marriage will suffer. Children will be conceived in loveless unions. The man will find it difficult to be faithful and seek comfort elsewhere. And your daughter will wonder what is wrong.
The secret will never be revealed. Everyone in this patriarchal society will blame the daughter. A sham of a marriage -- only because of a law, an intolerant society and Baba's authoritative opinion.
Go through the comments as well! Witness the darkness in which our fellow countrymen wallow!
P.S: Not believing in a sky-daddy doesn't equate as being an atheist. For the record, my personal belief is a cocktail that involves a dash of Advaita philosophy mixed with lot of rockusness. Yummy I tell you!
A must watch! I was literally ROFLMAO at work watching this. Can anybody help out with the movie name?
Watched Bhramaram last Sunday. I wanted to plonk down some multiplex money on the movie as the reports have been pretty good. But my fear of getting to know the entire story made we watch it while I was in Kerala. Money well spent and won't hesitate to watch it again from a plushy multiplex as opposed to the stench I subjected myself to watch the movie.
Bhramaram heralds the return of form for two people Malayalam cinema needs badly. Mohanlal and Blessy, with the latter being even more important. After a couple of woeful outings in the form of Red Chillies and Sagar Alias Jacky, Mohanlal returns what he does best. Acting, as opposed to dressing up and walking up and down.
The life of the movie is Mohanlal and its his show all the way. A good thing this time, as the other actors are at best par and many of them below par. The story is simple and the movie moves along at a crisp pace. The movie is about love, redemption, and revenge. Locations are fabulous and fresh. Camera work is superb and technically the movie is excellent.
The worst point in the movie for me was the annoying acting of the kid acting as Mohanlal's daughter. She spoils the drama and makes you cringe instead of sympathize. Movie could have been made crisper had Blessy avoided the song towards the end (which was pretty dumb in my opinion). He could have cut short the fight sequence or avoided it altogether. Blessy should have taken a queue from his teacher Padmarajan. In Thoovanathumbikal, not a single fight scene is present. Still we strongly feel that Jayakrishnan, the protagonist, is a tough nut. Screenplay could have been tighter and a little more fleshed out. These factors stop the movie from being an outright classic and one at par with the golden stuff our industry gave in the 80's. Movie does remind you of Thaazhvaaram, the classic revenge saga, but this stands a couple of feet shorter next to it due to the avoidable discrepancies.
Blessy's return to form is welcome after the disaster of Calcutta News. Me personally enjoyed Bhramaram more than Thanmaathra. Bold statement! May be its just me that feels the artificiality projected by happy families in Blessy's movies.
Verdict: Watch it! You certainly won't regret it!
But who will go for it?
For the Malayalam challenged, the new report is about a job advertisement seeking Coconut tree climbers. A very lucrative position from my experience. The money offered is pretty decent, but a decent freelancer can earn much more than that. We had a coconut tree in our house till last month (acquired by the Government and will be cut down soon for widening the road). We had a hard time finding somebody to pluck the coconuts. We had a friendly neighbourhood coconut plucker (thandaan), but after he passed away its been really hard. His son finds this job demeaning and waste of energy. Instead he spends his time as a CITU head load worker. As a CITU worker, he needn’t move a muscle and earn a livelihood from the fee gets for allowing others to unload the goods in the locality. The man could have easily earned a lot more if he wanted to work hard. Easy life and scot free money. No wonder people say Malayalees work hard when they are away from home. Away from the protectionist nanny system which allows a man to earn without doing any work.
This is one of my favourtie Calvin & Hobbes strip. I wanted to sent a cartoon to the last page feature "Mrigadhipadhyam Vannaal" in Balarama about Tigers going to buy Human Meat from the butchers.
One curious incident in the early publication of Calvin and Hobbes was the use of an alternate strip for the printed collections from November 28, 1985. The strip that has been published in the Calvin and Hobbes books is a different one than appeared in newspapers on that day. The original apparently still has not seen print, even with the recent release of The Complete Calvin and Hobbes.
Disappointing! It wouldn’t have been too difficult to remove such presence from the frame. These small errors sometimes point to the inadequacy of production. I hope the movie doesn’t cause a collective heart break for true supporters of Malayalam cinema.
Wait a minute! Are the cool conventions forte of comics and gaming dude(ttes)? An objectivist convention would be a paradise...for chronic insomniacs! The ones who would kill for a doze!
This is a must watch for anyone who grew up watching Ramayan on Doordarshan! Trippy! And it makes me want to plunk down my hard earned money on the Ramayan DVD! Damn!
Immigrant Song does make sense. A song about Nordic Gods. Ramayan was all about invading Lanka to save Seetha and destroy the despot Raavan.
Hmmm...did Bush read this as a reference before he decided to invade? Seetha = WMD which he never found?

Word has it that Niobe ditched him when she discovered about his pre-red pill days. Conveniently, Morpheus accused her of not believing the Oracle!
The news in Deshabhimani!!!!
For the Malayalam challenged: The article on the left says that a man won the International Dog eating contest by eating 68 dogs in 10 minutes. The article specifically says that the man ate the meat of 68 dogs.
Now the truth J
What a translation ??????
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_dog
Got this as a forward today morning. Don’t know if this is photoshopped. Having read Deshabhimani, I can say that it is not!
