Need a Title!

A little poem I typed in my mobile phone while I was in Ahmedabad. Typically short so that my fingers wouldn't get tired by tapping! This was inspired by several things in my life, but was catalysed after seeing a vegetable salesman pushing his kart at a blistering speed through the streets of Ahmedabad. He was nearly travelling on his cart! I would like to have a good title. Please suggest! Knock I knock on this closed door, Wish I do once it does gore. Know I do then it wont go ajar, For then and on for eons afar. Minds are to be won at times with a fight, And may take my juice and might, Fight on I will with no rest, Until I make a sire from the guest. Yearn I may for things I love, But never bow myself down and grove, March on I will to get whats mine, Up and around even when the stars start shine.

Pride and Prejudice

A few months back, I happened to see a best personality contest conducted by SCT College. The contest was nothing home to write about. The questions were vulgar, answers extremely vulgar. It was supposed to be funny. Why do people have to equate wittiness or comedy with vulgarity every single time? That in itself was very embarrassing to see. If people with the best personality came out like this, then God help us! There was one particular question that was mind boggling. The answers more than the question. Q: Imagine you are with a gay trapped inside a lift. What will you do? A1 (a lady): I will use my umbrella to hit him on the head. A2 (a gentleman): I will say to him, "Look dude! Stay where you are. Any stupid moves or I will kick your ass!" A3 (another lady): I will call out for help! Others answers were more or less in the same notes. Incredible answers! Its so painful to hear such bigotry from the so-called best personalities. Homosexuality is dreaded by our society. M...

Ten Songs...

Listening to some music and refreshing my memory with their history from Wikipedia. Music player is Amarok, the best player ever! It tightly integrates with Last.fm to add to your listening experience. For example, when you play a song, Amarok fetches a list of recommended songs from your collection. Lots and lots features present in Amarok. Read up and be enlightened! Lets back to our musical journey. I play a song, then select the next from the suggested songs. I will be writing about my impressions on the song as well as the verse that has touched (pun may be intended at times!). It all started with Break on Through (to the other side) by The Doors. Psychedelic Classic. The starting on the song always puts me in a trance. We chased our pleasures here Dug our treasures there But can you still recall The time we cried Break on through to the other side Next up is my all time favourite song Sunshine of Your Love by Cream. Bass, Guitar, Vocals, Drums, Lyrics everything absolute...

Countdown Tag

Taking a break from memoirs and doing a tag after a long, long time. Got this from here . 10 Things I've realized/ 10 realizations I am susceptible to negative emotions ala jealousy, possessiveness etc etc. Big surprise for a someone who is nearly altruistic most of the time! I process a huge amount of information everyday. 75% non-work and 25% work. Blame Google Reader for this! Lots and lots of posts everyday. If I happen to read a book, the volume goes up by a lot. I have quite a strong gut and is able to see gross stuff more than an ordinary guy. I don't sound that good on phone. :-< I am a Challenger (The link is a small pdf of 84 KB, definition of Challenger is there in page 130). Came to know about this after a team building programme I attended last week. I am very lazy when it comes to things affecting me. :-D I tend to think a lot and deduce crazy stuff! I cannot sit idle. Life is something not to be taken that seriously. I like cold beer! 9 things I'm gla...

Summer Days - III

Predictions of monsoon looming in. May 29th is what the wise men say. Lets see! In this post we will witness Rockus, the budding business man and entrepreneur. Monopoly is a very popular game. If you haven't played it, well, words fail me. When I was around 6 or 7, I got a monopoly like game called "Business" on my birthday*. It was totally unlike your run of the mill monopoly. Squares upto 100, you had throw dice and reach 100. The twist was that you had money, and had squares where you gained or lost money. Never really read the rules anyway. I always played it the way I wanted to. After a couple of years, the real clone of Monopoly surfaced. This was also called "Business". The game was entirely like Monopoly, except for the fact the names were all Indianised. Instead on Connecticut, you had Calcutta. Instead of Illinois, you had Indore. This one spread like a wildfire. We all got it, and we played it from dawn to dusk on several days. At that time, we had an...

Summer Days-II

Yesterday we ended with a promise about the tales about wheels and business. Young boys are fascinated by cars and bikes. Older boys too! Being young lets you dream about a lot of stuff uninhibited. You can dream about the cars you are going to get, boast about without getting the "huh" stares. Anyways back to our tale. I used to live near a slum. (Near would be an understatement since the distance was like 3 meters!) Temple pond (a large one at that!) converted into a slum over a period of several years. Without any doubt, I was forbidden from playing with the slum kids. I was still fascinated by their games. One of them was wheeling. I don't know the exact term for it, but it involves running along with a tyre, guiding it with a stick and making "beep beep" noises. Couple of kids with whom I used to play, were also fascinated by this. So, without getting close to the "bad" kids, I also got to play the game. We started of with cycle tyres as we could ...

Summer Days...

Have been telling myself to write this post since the beginning of April. Like so many important and unimportant things, I have been putting this off as well. I live near the court complex. May be a good 40 meters. On weekdays its a mad rush. Traffic is hectic and court premises are teeming with hordes of people, bat (wo)men, and khaki (wo)men. Sundays are wholly different matter. Hardly anyone on the road or the court complex. On these deserted days, the grounds inside court are taken over by kids of all ages. Several groups of kids play cricket all day. If I happen to pass by, I watch them play for sometime from afar. Its always fun to watch them play. The concentration on their faces, the dejections, the elations, the nasty schemes etc. Above all, I feel nostalgic about my own summer days. My childhood was spent in a rather sizeable family. In addition to it, lots of other relatives lived closed by. So, as kids we always had company. During the beginning of my boyhood, my best frien...
