Neelathaamara - Return to roots?

Neelathaamara is a remake of the movie with the same name released in 1979. The remake is written by M T Vasudevan Nair and directed by Lal Jose. Expectations are sky high. One of the best young directors in the Malayalam movie industry and MT requires no introduction. The major characters are played by newcomers, apart from the character played by Samvrutha Sunil.

After watching these stills, I am a little apprehensive. Will the current generation be able to relate to the story? The basic story of love and lust is universal, but the presentation? From the stills, it seems that the movie is disconnected from the current Malayali society and ethos. I hope I have to eat my words. Even if I have to, I also hope that people actually go and watch the movie rather than yawn it off like they did in the case of Achanurangaatha Veedu. That was one of Lal Jose's best, and did not taste commercial success.
